A splashback upstand shouldn't be an afterthought - it's the detail that finishes the countertop and protects the wall behind it. Ours is cut from genuine Carrara marble, with the same muted white-and-grey veining as our Carrara marble countertops, so the two read as one continuous surface rather than a matched pair.

Each upstand is 15mm thick - substantial enough to stand up to daily splashing without looking bulky - with a softened R15 corner radius rather than a sharp edge, so it sits cleanly against the wall and is easier to keep clean.

As with any natural stone, no two pieces are identical - variation in veining and tone is part of what genuine Carrara marble is, not a flaw to correct for.

Please note, the slightly shorter length is due to the profile of the vanity units, and sets the upstand back from the countertop's own edge profile so it seats flush against the flat surface rather than overhanging or fighting the corner detail - the result is a clean, deliberate join rather than an edge-to-edge fit.
